Stories : My Southern Mommy
Continuing with our stories series, I am honored to share with you the story of Jordan Varnadore behind My Southern Mommy. Jordan shares with me how she started her blog, what it stands for, and why she loves her LPS necklace so much!
Welcome Jordan! It's good to have you here! For those who aren't familiar, can you tell us about The Southern Mommy?
Traditions and heirlooms have always been very important to me. My Southern Mommy is a place where I can share some of these thoughts and items while exchanging ideas with other moms out there from all over the world. I think it's important for people to share what certain things in their life are so important to them and their connection between them - it inspires and encourages others to do the same - and you never know what you might learn from others or what new traditions and heirlooms you may start for your own family!
I love that! As you know, I am a sucker for traditions and capturing moments into special heirlooms. It's great to hear others appreciating them as well. How did your blog get started?
I started this blog to document my life as a young mother and our life as a family. I enjoy sharing the things that I love and recording my first-hand account on this journey through motherhood. I draw much inspiration and encouragement from reading about other young mothers like myself and I can only hope that my blog can offer another example for mothers to connect with. It's important to me in my blog to not only showcase the positive moments in life or the "picture-perfect" captures, but truly document my experiences in life as a young mother, wife, and woman as the days go by. If for nothing else, one day I hope to look back on what I've learned and how far we've come on this journey together.
I couldn't agree more with you, Jordan! You mentioned you hope for your blog to inspire young mothers like yourself. Can you elaborate on that a bit more?
I want other moms to know that you can still be a mom and be successful. I too often see young moms discouraged with the overwhelming responsibility of having a young child start to think that maybe their lives are somehow diminished - or the notion that they can't keep up with the "picture perfect" lives of other moms their age. Via my blog I want other moms to see the "real-life" experience of the challenges, frustrations, and great rewards that the journey through motherhood truly is! You can set goals for yourself to achieve, you can do stuff for yourself, and you can still be yourself! Having children certainly changes your life, but it doesn't have to change who you are or who you aspire to be. I think it's important for young moms out there to share the real-story behind the camera sometimes to reassure mothers out there that they are doing just fine! It's my hope that my blog can provide that encouragement to others as so many have done for me.
Absolutely! As much as we adore our children, I feel they don't define us. We are first women, born to love and care for ourselves and than those around us. But at the same time our children are the light of our eyes and we can document the special moments we share with them through blog posts, or instagram pictures. They grow so fast, you know:) Which brings me to my next question. You are also a dear customers of ours. Can you tell us about what was it like working with us?
Working with y'all was a dream! I picked out a picture for my silhouette necklace and had nothing but help along the way from there. I originally thought I didn't want a bow in the picture, but I was so thankful after your team explained to me that it needed it (to create a more secure silhouette)! It came out absolutely perfect. The assistance along the way was very personal which only further enriched how special this item has become to me. I was so thankful for your help - quick email responses to all my questions and concerns! My necklace arrived on time and exceeded my expectations, by far.
That's so good to hear, Jordan! We always try our absolute best, but hearing those words, brings joy to my heart! I'm glad you love your necklace.
As a person who treasures heirlooms and is one all for traditions both new and old, it means so much to me that I will have my daughters two year old silhouette with me every day. It is truly something I will cherish forever.
