John Andrew’s 5th Month Silhouette

Dear John,

You’re 5 and a half months old, sweet boy! There is no doubt that you are mama’s boy. You seem to only want me to sooth or help you feel better, but when it comes to being held and rocked to sleep, daddy is your man.

The other day I came across this:

“God makes children so specifically for us, each of them” – Arianne Segerman

It made me think how your presence here has changed our family, has changed me. When I was pregnant with you, I would worry myself sick about my ability to raise another child while growing a business. In my heart, I knew what I was doing was what God wanted. Yet, I was scared.

I look at your today and I overcome with peace. In these 5 and a half months, I have learned to put my trust in the Lord and follow His plan for my life. I am not worried of what is to become with the business. God allowed me to create something beautiful, something I am passionate about when I had no idea what I was doing. He also brought you into my life when I was least expecting you but needed you the most. I try to remind myself of these words over and over again until they settle down on me. You, my darling, are the child that could teach me all sorts of things and in the process, deepen my faith. From the moment we found out about you, to your beautiful birth, to the life we’ve had these past months, I am reminded that God handpicked you for our family. He always knows best!

Happy almost 6 month birthday, little one!

love you more,

Mama

I’ve decided to draw John Andrew’s monthly silhouette until he turns 12 months old. I started this project with Nikolas as a way to document his growth. I take a picture of John Andrew on the same spot on our couch every month and pair it with his monthly silhouette.
