Reflecting on 2012

sweet John on his 1st Christmas pjs

As 2012 comes to and end, I want to take a moment and reflect on all that happened this year, what I am thankful for and set intentions up for the new year ahead.  In the past I have set concrete goals. This year I am going to give myself permission to stay away from resolutions. They’ve never worked for me anyways!

2012 was the year of change for our family. We were blessed a thousand times more than we could ever imagine. Just as we thought our family of 3 was perfect just the way it was, God brought forth the sweetest blessing, our John Andrew! We are in love and can’t imagine life without him. Our family of 4 is well…perfect! Being a mother of 2, a wife and a business owner, has challenged me in the most of unexpected ways but has also taught me a great lot. I have learned to be a happier person in general by finding joy in the smallest of things. I have learned to let go and say “No!” to situations I wouldn’t have. I have welcomed new ideas and made decisions keeping my family’s best interest in mind. I have learned to put my trust in God more than ever before! As a result, I can wholeheartedly say that personally 2012 has been a great year!

On the professional side I’ve struggled with defining a new meaning behind what I do. Don’t get me wrong! I love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world. But even so, I can’t help wanting to find the things that fire me up, push me forward, help me clarify my vision for this little business of mine.

My new book, Pretty Paper Parties launched in October. I’ve been so eager to see how people like it. So far it’s being the major bookstores and even a bunch of independent boutiques. It’s been a labor of love after all!  Le Papier Studio continued to receive some amazing press this year. It’s always exciting to see which magazine featured our work. This year we were one of People Style Watch, Country Living, More Magazine, Pregnancy & Newborn, House Beautiful, Midwest Living, Huffington Post, Daily Candy – just to name a few. But what matters more than anything is the amazing number of new customers we helped celebrate the season by creating one of a kind heirlooms!

As we welcome the New Year tonight, I wanted to wish each and every one of you a healthy, happy and a prosperous 2013. Here’s to the best year yet! I look forward to all that it has to offer!
