New York Trip Recap

Last weekend I flew to New York City to visit the National Stationery Show and Surtex. I wanted to spend some time chatting with a few artists at the Surtex show since I have been playing with the idea of licensing.

There’s just something about New York that excites me and inspires me like no other. This trip was no different. I spent the flight home doodling ideas and making notes about exciting possibilities. If you ever considered visiting these two shows to draw inspiration and meet some talented artists I urge you to do so.

I was very pleased to meet Cat Seto (bottom left) and see her new line of stationery – Ferme a Papier in person. This new line is inspired by Cat’s recent trip to Europe. Kate Spain (bottom right) is another lady I have to stop and say “Hi” to every time I visit Surtex. She has been a huge inspiration over the years and it’s such fun seeing all the new things she’s coming up constantly. Her booth was my favorite! And of course I had to stop by the lovely booth of Mr. Boddington’s Studio – you can guess why I love this company so much:)

You can’t visit the NSS without stopping at the Rifle Paper Co.‘s booth! I am serious! Visiting their booth is like going to the candy shop – for stationery lovers. This year they paired up with the talented Amy Merrick to debut some of their newest work. Their cell phone cases are so hot right now – everyone is sporting them around!

Next I stopped by Kate Spade’s booth. What a happy booth it was! All I wanted to do is make myself comfortable on a chair and take it all in for a while:) Last, but certainly not least I had to say “hello” to my favorite publishing company of all times – the Chronicle Books of course. I secretly was hoping I would see my new book on display and … I did! There’s no better feeling that seeing you work out there. I had to stop and take a picture:)

Monday was my last day in the city and I did a bit of shopping (girl got to do what a girl got to do, right?) and also grubbed lunch at Eataly’s roof top with a dear friend.

A bit of walking around town before heading back to Chicago. The flat iron building is one of my all time favorites. I have to take a moment and enjoy its presence whenever I visit NYC. The most important part of the trip was of course meeting some new people. My two newest friends here and here.
